First off, thank you for giving us your valuable time to read this.

We are launching a non-profit 501(c) (3) program to support the Children of Fallen Warriors. All Gold Star Children are eligible, however since 46% of Military Personnel are from Rural America and the fact that Rural America accounts for such a small part of the total American population, it’s safe to say that the majority of these interested youth are from country families. Many children, especially those from the country, grew up dreaming of being in Rodeo, competing in a Western Cow Horse event such as Reining or Cutting or making it to the US Olympics Equestrian Team. When a parent is lost in the Service of our Country, much of the time, their chances and their dreams are shattered and die with their parent. We, with your help, can give those youngsters the much-needed support so that they can fulfill the dream that they shared with their now missing Military parent.

We are an old time “since 1887” Montana Ranch Family. We own the “Y” brand which because of the Yellowstone shows, has become well known everywhere across the globe. We formed Riders of the Yellowstone Foundation, which is a non-profit foundation separate from the J bar Stenberg Ranch with its well-known cattle breeding program.

Riders of the Yellowstone Foundation invite children of Fallen Warriors that have the dream and desire to compete in mounted horse events to come to our Montana Ranch and be trained by “the real deal” cowboys. If they have the strong desire to enter the circuit or arena, they can do so on one of our elite horses. All this support is free of charge for as long as the youngster wants to pursue their Dream. The Youngster has full possession of the horse during this period of time and the Foundation will provide the required financial or mentoring support as needed. We are a Military Family ourselves and are dedicated to fulfilling this need. We know that Farm and Ranch Families have done more than their share protecting our freedom and when that parent gives the Ultimate Sacrifice, we want to ensure that when that child is ready to saddle up, we will support them and make it happen. The Foundation is instrumental in making future champions.

The Foundation purchases highly trained, Elite Bred Horses and related equipment, and lend at no cost for as long as needed to children of Fallen or Disabled Military personal. If this Gold Star Child wants to continue pursuing a career with horses, we will have accomplished our goal!

The majority of these horses are ready for competition. However, some situations allow for the placement of young horses if circumstances dictate. The procedures and criteria must be fluid while maintaining focus on the mission of supporting and enabling these Gold Star Children to fulfill their dream of being a high-level mounted athlete.

Only the highest quality performance horses enter the Foundation program. We are not providing pets or pleasure horses. The Foundations mission is to provide a means for these children to compete at the highest level of Equine Competition. If the Foundation did not exist, the chance for these children to realize their dreams would not exist.

The horses are sourced from the top breeding and training programs in North America. We exist to nurture excellence and thus these cherished participants must be mounted on excellence. The Foundation enjoys support from Horses of the Yellowstone and has full authority to use the Montana registered “Y” Brand.   The Foundations personnel are encouraged to think out of the box and pursue all available forms of outreach and funding opportunities.

The Foundation is a “pure” 501(c) (3) Non-Profit Corporation. It is reliant on Donations to accomplish its mission.

Yes, we need donations, so please pass the word. However, we also need “Star Power” to be a part of this. It will be so exciting and enjoyable to come to the most breathtaking part of Montana with eight separate mountain ranges seen from our Ranch and endless miles of open country to ride on. Plus, it is just plain fun to go to a horse event or Rodeo where these young people are competing at and connecting with them.  Go to a major horse sale in Vegas, Fort Worth or Ocala and mingle with horse people while displaying an elite horse to be sold as a benefit to the Foundation will be so rewarding and memorable.

The Foundation organizers have deep roots in ranching and share a strong commitment to encourage our rural youth to “stay on the land”. The Global Horse Industry contributes over 300 Billion Dollars annually and the American Horse Industry is valued at over 120 Billion Dollars, many times larger than the NFL. There is unlimited potential for any youngster with the desire to pursue a career in the Horse Industry. As a Non-Profit Foundation, we are eager to embrace and wrap our arms around that young person that had their dreams and chances of a career with horses evaporate with the loss of their Military parent.

Our Mission is a Nobel Mission. These Gold Star Children have lost a precious part of their lives at a very impactful stage of their life. We are here to provide and nurture them to fill part of that missing void in their heart. Imagine how that youngster will feel as he/she rides into that arena and says to themselves “This is for you Dad.”
